With no lead rider scheduled in the calendar to lead today, it was going to be interesting to see how a lead rider was going to be chosen. Were we to draw straws or was someone going to point the bone? Willem and Randal were already at the meeting place in Whittlesea when I arrived and I got an award social moment out of the way by volunteering to lead.

I decided to head off towards Strath Creek and Broadford way due to the weather looking pretty average across the eastern ranges way and then just follow my nose.

After a short break at Broadford we headed for Lancefield. However, we ended up in Daylesford for lunch. The route I took was the same one the Trevor Harris leads with a short section of dirt thrown in along the way.

It was a fairly cold day that I thought might improve but the closer we got to Daylesford the colder it got. We had lunch in a café in the main street and then headed for home.

Willem left us for the warmth of home at Woodend and Randal and I retraced the morning’s route back to Broadford and the breakup point at Kinglake West.
